DIY Thieves Foaming Hand Soap

I've been eyeing the Thieves Foaming Handsoap from Young Living for a while. I love my Thieves oil, and use it for all things cleaning. But, we go through soap like crazy in this house (my children love suds of all kinds) and I didn't really want to pay the $12 a bottle that Young Living charges.

Then I stumbled across these uber cheap foaming soap bottles ($.89 each!) and decided to make my own Thieves soap. It took a few tries tweak the recipe for the perfect foam and thieves. It's amazingly easy to make, though!

Thieves Foaming Handsoap
1/2 Cup Dr. Bronner's Liquid Castile Soap
20 Drops Thieves Essential Oil
Water
Pour the castile soap into the soap bottle, and then add the Thieves oil (you can add more or less to your preference).
Swirl around to mix the soap and essential oil, and then fill the bottle up the rest of the way with water. When you add the water, be sure to tilt the bottle so that the water gently slides down the inside of the bottle. Otherwise, the bottle will immediately fill with foam.

If you have an empty foaming soap bottle from the store, you can also re-use that - just be sure to wash it out well. If you plan to make a label for the bottle, I suggest covering it with a strip of clear packing tape. The water and soap will make a mess of it on the first use.

Thieves Latte Recipe

I love coffee. I restrain myself and only drink one cup a day, but I could easily down the entire pot. So, when I discovered a tasty way to add essential oils, I was thrilled. While the oils by no means extract the calories from this drink, it does add a shot of immune boosting power.

Thieves Latte

1-2 Drops Thieves Essential Oil
1 Cup Milk
2 Shots Espresso (or 1/4 cup strong coffee)
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Syrup
Ice

I added my milk and thieves to a pint size mason jar and swirled it around, so that it mixed well. Then I added a handful of ice, and poured the espresso over it. I topped it off with an extra big "squrishhh" (that's a technical term, folks) of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

Since I'm not a fan of super strong flavors, I only used one drop of thieves for my latte. But, with only one drop, it reminded me a lot of a chai tea latte. If you like a stronger flavor, add more oil. But, only add one drop at a time - it goes a long way!

If you prefer hot lattes, just steam the milk, and omit the ice. Since high temps can diminish the effectiveness of the oils, be sure to let the milk cool to a 'drinkable' temperature before adding the Thieves oil.

Thieves is a blend of oils, and contains cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary. It is known for strengthening the immune system, fighting sicknesses such as strep, colds, sore throats and more. Thieves also kills bacteria and in the 15th century, helped people ward off the Black Plague!

Kicking Things Off

I know, I know... another blog about essential oils. Trust me, I get it. I've rolled my eyes more times than I can count at people claiming that oils saved their life. There are only a bajillion distributors trying to get you to buy all 4,192 oils in existence. And say you actually get the starter essential oils kit - then what? What do you do with it?

This is where Oil Palooza comes in. I want this site to be helpful. Real. Practical. And, did I say helpful?

So, what is this Oil Palooza site going to offer, you ask? I don't think I could say it any better than my friend and co-creater Sara has. She says,

"It's a pretty rad party going on for all things oils! Whether you are a distributor, oil junkie, or just a curious cat - there will be a TON of resources for you to use and share! But keep your pants on - it's coming soon!"

We are working like busy beavers behind the scenes right now, getting ready to officially launch Oil Palooza. So, be sure to check back often. Once we are up and running, there will be giveaways with free stuff like full size bottles of oil, (None of that $0.17 off your order of $9,000 stuff.) and lots of practical ways to use your collection. Plus, we'll have resources and products for everyone from distributors to once-a-week users.

Y'all come back now. You'll be glad you did.
